This piece was inspired by the transportation theory of Charles Marohn, the founder of Strong Towns. The fast moving, vivid red contrasting with the more sedate blue, firmly separated by a wall of yellow illustrates, for me, Chuck's concept of "stroads."
This painting debuts a new technique for me wherein I apply thinned paint with a pipette rather than a brush. This piece also features an extremely thick coat of polyurethane, giving the whole piece a preserved, vintage feel.
"Stroads" 18x20" Acrylic paint on plywood with polyurethane.
